Just under 5 Euro on itunes for one of the best versions of Mahler 5. Check out the reviews on Amazon.com or indeed anywhere on the net. It is perhaps an unusual choice for Mahler but the sound is immaculate and the energy in the work is fantastic. The brass in particular stand out as having an exceptional sound and for anyone familiar with the symphony, brass is such a dominant section. The Adagietto too is perfect, not too slow for one thing. In fact, this symphony has all you might expect from Mahler: tortured melodies, triumphant chorales, violent interchanges, magnificent architecture, melancholic folk references, sadness and ecstasy.
I reckon this might be cheaper in the stores too. It is cheap due to the label rather than anything else. Grab it
